The incident, which occurred around 9:25 a.m., has sparked fresh concerns in the locality, coming just days after the discovery of a woman’s body stuffed in a trolley bag in the same general vicinity.
According to eyewitness accounts, smoke was still emanating from around the deceased when local residents noticed the body. They made initial attempts to douse the flames using water before alerting the authorities. Responding swiftly, personnel from the Shyampukur Police Station reached the location, recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy.
The identity of the deceased man, believed to be approximately 55 years old, remains unknown at this time. While the cause of death has not yet been confirmed, initial police suspicions suggest the possibility of murder, with the body allegedly set on fire in a suspected attempt to destroy evidence.
